Your smile is your greatest asset : it reflects your personality, your well-being, and your self-confidence. However, over the years, habits such as smoking, drinking certain beverages, or natural aging can dull the
whiteness of your teeth. Our dental clinic offers custom aesthetic treatments to restore your
teeth’s natural whiteness. These procedures are performed in our dental office, equipped with the latest technology, ensuring the health of your
enamel and your oral hygiene.

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure designed to improve the natural shade of teeth by lightening them by several tones. It helps reduce visible discoloration on the surface of the teeth as well as deeper stains, while preserving the dental structure.

This treatment targets extrinsic stains, found on the enamel surface, and intrinsic stains, located deeper in the dentin. The role of a dental hygienist is essential in assessing the condition of your teeth before any whitening treatment.

A well-performed teeth whitening procedure helps restore natural brightness while preserving dental health. However, there are some contraindications, especially for individuals with dental crowns or suffering from severe tooth sensitivity.

How does teeth whitening work?

resultats-blanchiment-dents

Teeth whitening is based on the use of products containing hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. These agents penetrate the enamel to reach the dentin and break down the pigments responsible for tooth discoloration.

  • Carbamide peroxide : A mixture of urea and hydrogen peroxide, it acts gradually and is often used in at-home treatments.
  • Hydrogen peroxide : More powerful and fast-acting, it is preferred for in-office whitening treatments.

Teeth Whitening Techniques We Offer

At Clinique Dentaire Chantepoulet in Geneva, we offer two teeth whitening techniques tailored to your needs and expectations.

In-Office Teeth Whitening : On the Chair

In-office whitening is a quick and effective solution performed under the supervision of a dental hygienist.

Session process :

  • A preliminary oral check-up is performed to ensure the health of your teeth and gums.
  • Application of a high-concentration hydrogen peroxide gel on the teeth.
  • Activation of the gel with a LED lamp or laser to speed up the process.
  • The session lasts about 2 hours, with visible results at the end of the treatment.

Advantages :

  • Immediate and natural-looking results.
  • Safe treatment supervised by a dental hygienist.

Limitations :

  • Temporary tooth sensitivity possible.
  • Higher cost than at-home treatments.

At-Home Teeth Whitening (Home Bleaching)

For those who prefer a gradual treatment, we provide guidance and personalized at-home whitening solutions.

Treatment Process :

  • Impressions are taken to create custom-fitted trays.
  • Application of a high-concentration hydrogen peroxide gel on the teeth.
  • Wearing of the trays for 1 to 1.5 hours during the day, or overnight depending on the protocol.
  • The treatment typically lasts around 2 weeks.

Advantages :

  • More affordable cost.
  • Less sensitivity compared to in-office treatment.
  • Possibility of regular maintenance to prolong results.

Limitations :

  • Gradual results requiring discipline.
  • May require changes in certain habits ( tobacco, coffee).

FAQ

Le blanchiment dentaire abîme-t-il l’émail ?
Non.
